Hyderabad: The State government is set to officially launch the Bhu Bharathi portal on Monday.

The Revenue department will implement the Bhu Bharati Act on a trial basis in three mandals across three districts in Telangana. Based on the outcomes from these initial mandals, the Act is expected to be fully rolled out statewide by June 2.

On Sunday, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy held a review meeting concerning Bhu Bharati with officials at his residence in Jubilee Hills.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister emphasised the need for awareness programs about the portal to be conducted in all mandals throughout the State.

"The Bhu Bharati website should be simple enough for the average farmer to understand. It will be in place for at least a century, so it needs to be modern and designed properly to mitigate security risks," stated Revanth Reddy.

The Chief Minister further stated that it will be better if the responsibility of managing Bhu Bharati is handed over to a trusted organisation. During a casual conversation with the media at the Secretariat on Sunday, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy highlighted that the primary aim of introducing the Bhu Bharathi Act and portal is to ensure the protection of all lands in Telangana.

He also mentioned that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is set to present the Bhu Bharati Act and portal to the public in honour of Dr BR Ambedkar's 134th birth anniversary on Monday.

Ponguleti reiterated a previous announcement made in the Legislative Assembly, indicating that the Congress government is committed to considering a referendum on the Bhu Bharathi Act during the 2029 Legislative Assembly elections. "I want to reaffirm that we are dedicated to keeping this promise," he stated. The Minister noted that, as previously mentioned, a forensic audit will be carried out on any land irregularities that occurred under the Dharani system once the Bhu Bharati initiative is implemented.

Ponguleti urged the people to refrain from immediately accessing the portal to check their land information, cautioning that such a surge could potentially lead to the portal's complete shutdown.
